Small Business Expo: An Exhibitor Guide

Small Business Expo brings business owners into the room, but are they the owners who would buy your software? Before choosing a booth, understand the city tour, the audience and the way the day works. That will tell you what to demonstrate—and whether to exhibit at all.

What kind of event is Small Business Expo?

Small Business Expo is a U.S. series of B2B trade shows combining an exhibition with business education and networking. Small Business Expo LLC is the event manager identified in its exhibitor terms. You choose a city edition; there is no single national date or venue.

The audience includes established owners and people still getting a business started. The organizer says most attending businesses have fewer than 500 employees. That is a broad size range, not proof that a particular city attracts your ideal accounts. Audience information.

For software you can sell directly to an owner, that format is worth investigating. A business that needs an easier way to follow up on estimates could understand a short demonstration immediately. Software that only makes financial sense after a lengthy enterprise rollout is a harder match. Ask for evidence of the customer size you need before committing.

The show is positioned around business purchasing, rather than consumer shopping. Its exhibitor categories include CRM, payroll and business software. Those categories establish relevance; they do not establish demand for your particular product. Exhibitor information.

As checked on September 7, 2026, the next listed stop is Las Vegas on September 10. The remaining 2026 dates are below. Each city name links to the organizer's page; the table is a planning reference, not confirmation that booths remain available.

Planning beyond the 2026 edition? Compare dates and venues in our upcoming trade shows in Dallas guide.

Atlanta needs a direct check before you book travel. The tour schedule lists Georgia International Convention Center, while the city page's FAQ still names Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart. Ask the organizer to confirm the address in writing.

For San Diego, the tour schedule and city agenda use Sheraton San Diego Resort, matching the hotel's current name. Some city-page text uses Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. For Houston, the venue's own directions page uses Reliant Center and Gate 10. Use the confirmed delivery instructions when shipping, not a venue name from an old event file.

The tour already extends into 2027: Orlando is scheduled for March 2 at DoubleTree by Hilton at the Entrance to Universal Orlando. A later date gives you a real alternative if your demonstration and follow-up team are not ready for the imminent September shows.

Start with the city where you can support new users well after the expo. A nearby representative or an existing customer willing to discuss their experience can be more useful than choosing a city because it sounds like a large market. Ask the organizer for that city's recent attendee profile, with actual attendance separated from registrations. Then compare it with the businesses already buying your software.

What happens during the day?

The exhibition is only part of the visit. Owners also attend workshops and structured networking sessions. The published Las Vegas agenda, for example, includes speed networking and separate industry meet-ups alongside sessions about running a business. The San Diego program includes practical AI and cybersecurity topics. Check the Las Vegas agenda and San Diego agenda for the specific editions.

For a software exhibitor, this creates a useful distinction: someone interested in a technology session may want to learn, while someone discussing a problem at your booth may be ready to evaluate a tool. Start the conversation by asking how they handle that task today. Their answer tells you whether to run a demo or offer a resource for later.

Read the agenda for your own city before setting appointments. A meet-up for technology businesses could bring referral partners as well as prospective users; it is not a list of qualified software buyers. Keep someone available at the booth while another team member joins a relevant session, if your staffing permits.

What does a Small Business Expo booth include?

Exhibitor prices are offered through the organizer’s rates request. Get a quote for your chosen city and package; a general trade show budget from a blog is not a confirmed Small Business Expo booth price. Keep the cost of the space separate from the complete cost of getting your team and demonstration there.

The help center lists an identification sign, a draped six-foot table, two chairs and a wastebasket for standard 8 × 8 or 10 × 10 booths. Confirm which size and package your quote covers. Standard booth contents.

Electricity and Wi-Fi are separate orders, according to the organizer's power guidance and Wi-Fi guidance. Put both in the quote before comparing the cost of exhibiting. A software demo that depends on an unconfirmed connection can fail even when the display looks finished.

Use the included furniture deliberately. A laptop placed flat behind a table is difficult for a passing owner to follow. Test the screen position with someone standing where a visitor would stand, and leave room for the conversation inside your booked space. The organizer asks exhibitors to keep their teams out of public aisles. Staffing guidance.

Before commissioning a backdrop, get the height limits and display rules for your city. The exhibitor handbook is the organizer's reference for policies and shipping. Its help center describes setup hours as typical, so confirm your actual access window before scheduling a crew. Do not treat attendee opening time as exhibitor access time. Setup guidance.

Insurance is required. Obtain the current certificate instructions for your event dates and venue before arranging coverage. Insurance guidance.

Bring a demonstration an owner can judge

The broad business audience makes a full product tour a poor starting point. Choose one task your existing customers buy the software to improve. For example, use fictional customer data to show how the software flags an unanswered estimate and schedules a follow-up. Let the visitor see the result before opening the settings menu.

Bring evidence that answers the next question: would this work in their business? A genuine customer example should state the starting problem and what changed, with permission to share it. Keep the setup steps and pricing conditions nearby so an interested owner can understand what adopting the tool would involve. Do not promise savings you have not measured.

Save an offline demonstration as well. It can keep the explanation going if the live connection fails, although it should be clear that the visitor is watching a recording. Once there is a fit, agree on a specific next step such as a trial setup call. A badge scan alone does not tell your sales team what the owner needs.

Small Business Expo exhibitor FAQ

Can I attend first before paying for a booth?

Yes. General attendee registration is available free of charge, with paid upgrades also offered. You can use a visit to assess the audience and observe how owners use the exhibition. Keep that visit focused on learning; an attendee ticket is not an exhibitor booking. Check the access offered on your chosen city registration page.

Does booking a booth give me a speaking slot?

Do not assume it does. The organizer directs prospective speakers to a separate speaker application. If a workshop is part of your plan, get its inclusion and format confirmed before paying. Choose a topic you can teach usefully even to someone who never buys your software.

Why can't my team find the lead scanner in the app?

The help center says to sign in with the registered email, select your city and check that the account has Exhibitor status. An attendee-level Green badge does not provide scanner access. Test the setup before the show so your team can get help while there is still time. Lead scanner support.

Can I move my booking to another city if plans change?

Do not budget on that assumption. City transfers require the organizer's written consent and are discretionary under its current exhibitor terms. Ask about the proposed change before committing to it. A different tour date being listed does not mean your booking can move there.

Before you reserve a booth

Send the organizer your target customer size and chosen city, and request the local attendee profile, itemized quote and current handbook. If those support the fit, build your first exhibit around one convincing software demonstration. If the audience evidence is weak, visit first and make the paid decision afterward.
