10 Major Trade Shows in the USA to Consider in 2027

If you are building a 2027 U.S. trade show calendar, a list of the country's biggest trade shows can be misleading. CES, NPE, Global Pet Expo, and FABTECH are all major events, but they do not compete for the same exhibitor or buyer. The useful question is which show is important inside the market you are trying to enter. This guide compares 10 major U.S. trade shows with confirmed 2027 dates and explains what would make each one commercially relevant to you.

Major does not mean universal

The table uses organizer-published scale only as context. Attendance and exhibit area are measured differently across events and do not forecast your leads. Industry fit, buyer role, eligibility, and the ability to demonstrate your offer come first.

1. CES 2027

January 6–9, 2027 | Las Vegas, Nevada

Georgia GITA exhibit project on the CES 2025 show floor in Las Vegas.

CES is a major platform for technology launches, business development, partnerships, startups, and media. Its categories extend from AI, mobility, health, energy, and smart home to enterprise systems, retail, robotics, and infrastructure. The organizer's audited 2026 figures include more than 148,000 attendees from 141 countries and regions.

That scale creates options and noise at the same time. CES makes sense when your product belongs in a defined technology category and the team can name the partners, customers, media, or investors it wants to reach. It is not a sensible default for every company that uses software.

Before reserving space, choose the correct show environment and decide what must happen there: a launch, working demo, distributor conversation, enterprise meeting, press briefing, or ecosystem partnership. If the plan is only “brand exposure,” the show is too large to compensate for the lack of a target.

2. NRF 2027: Retail's Big Show

January 10–12, 2027 | Jacob K. Javits Convention Center | New York City

Attendees fill technology exhibition aisles at NRF Retail's Big Show.

NRF 2027 is a major retail event bringing technology and service providers together with retail professionals. The organizer reports more than 41,000 attendees and positions the expo around the systems and ideas moving retail forward.

Retail technology, ecommerce, payments, customer experience, store systems, analytics, loss prevention, workforce, logistics, and retail media solutions can fit. A consumer product brand looking for shelf buyers should not assume NRF functions like a merchandise sourcing show; the operating technology context is central.

Build the exhibit around one retail decision. Show how the solution changes a store, commerce journey, employee task, inventory flow, or management outcome. General claims about innovation disappear quickly on a floor where hundreds of suppliers promise transformation.

3. SHOT Show

January 19–22, 2027 | Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum | Las Vegas, Nevada

Mittal Group exhibit project on the SHOT Show 2024 floor.

SHOT Show is the major trade-only event for the shooting sports, hunting, outdoor, law-enforcement, and related industries. Its scale spans two venues, and qualification rules require attendees to demonstrate industry affiliation.

Firearms, ammunition, optics, hunting and outdoor equipment, safety products, range solutions, retailer services, and suppliers to industry manufacturers may have a route into the event. This is a regulated and tightly defined market; a broad outdoor-lifestyle association is not enough.

Confirm eligibility, product restrictions, shipping, security, demonstration, and local rules before committing. The commercial value comes from the qualified channel, while the operational risk comes from treating a specialized product category like an ordinary consumer-goods display.

4. Design & Construction Week: IBS and KBIS

February 2–4, 2027 | Las Vegas Convention Center | Las Vegas, Nevada

A busy NAHB International Builders' Show aisle during Design & Construction Week.

The co-located International Builders' Show and Kitchen & Bath Industry Show create a major residential construction and design week. They share dates and location, but they should not be treated as one undifferentiated audience.

IBS reaches builders, developers, remodelers, dealers, and residential construction professionals across building products, systems, tools, and technology. KBIS concentrates on kitchen and bath products and the designers, architects, specifiers, retailers, distributors, and builders who select them.

Choose the side that matches the decision. A building-envelope or jobsite product needs installation and performance proof; a kitchen or bath product needs finished context plus specification, service, and supply information. Paying for a large presence without choosing the relevant professional leaves the booth speaking to neither.

5. Global Pet Expo

March 17–19, 2027 | Orange County Convention Center | Orlando, Florida

Vetreska exhibit project during setup at Global Pet Expo 2024.

Global Pet Expo is a major business event for pet products and the retail-distribution channel. Food, treats, toys, accessories, care products, habitat products, and related merchandise are presented to industry buyers and partners.

It belongs on your list when the product is ready for wholesale evaluation in the United States. A buyer needs to understand margin, packaging, case pack, opening order, compliance, inventory, fulfillment, and reorder reliability—not only what makes the product appealing to a pet owner.

If those commercial pieces are unresolved, use the show as research rather than a launch. A successful booth can increase demand faster than an unprepared supply chain can handle it, and disappointing the first channel partners is expensive.

6. ProMat 2027

April 19–21, 2027 | McCormick Place | Chicago, Illinois

Material handling exhibitors and attendees fill the ProMat show floor in Chicago.

ProMat is a major manufacturing and supply-chain technology event with more than 1,100 planned solution providers and nearly 200 seminars. Warehousing, material handling, robotics, automation, software, packaging interfaces, storage, safety, and logistics systems are demonstrated in an operating context.

The show is relevant when your customer owns a facility, flow, labor, throughput, or fulfillment problem. A robot or AI system is not the story by itself; what it changes in a warehouse or distribution operation is the story.

Demonstrate the process, including exceptions. Buyers will test assumptions about integration, uptime, safety, facility constraints, implementation, service, and return. A perfect repeated motion may attract a crowd, but an honest explanation of how the system behaves in real operations creates a qualified project.

7. NPE2027: The Plastics Show

May 3–7, 2027 | Orange County Convention Center | Orlando, Florida

Visitors watch a plastics automation demonstration on the NPE show floor.

NPE2027 is a triennial event covering the plastics supply chain, including machinery, materials, processing, molds, components, automation, testing, packaging applications, and recycling. The organizer describes more than one million net square feet of exhibits and tens of thousands of industry professionals.

It can justify a major machinery or technology launch because visitors expect to see production systems and materials working. That same scale creates high freight, utility, installation, staffing, and demonstration demands.

Plan the exhibit from the process backward. Decide what will run, what utilities and materials it needs, what output the visitor can inspect, how waste or scrap is handled, and who can answer application questions. A static machine in an oversized space throws away the event's main advantage.

8. InfoComm 2027

Education: June 12–18; exhibits: June 16–18, 2027 | Orange County Convention Center | Orlando, Florida

VigilLink exhibit project on the InfoComm 2024 show floor.

InfoComm is North America's major professional audiovisual and integrated-experience exhibition. It covers audio, displays, conferencing, collaboration, digital signage, control, broadcast AV, lighting, networks, and AI-driven systems used across workplaces, education, retail, hospitality, venues, and entertainment.

Manufacturers meet integrators, consultants, technology managers, and end users, so you must know which role specifies, installs, or operates the product. A dramatic visual or audio demonstration attracts attention, but it does not replace compatibility, commissioning, network, service, and project evidence.

Design for the actual experience and the environment around it. Sound control, sightlines, content, power, rigging, network, and system integration need early planning. The booth should let a visitor experience the result and then understand how it becomes a reliable project.

9. FABTECH

September 13–16, 2027 | McCormick Place | Chicago, Illinois

Machinery exhibits and visitors fill the FABTECH show floor in Chicago.

FABTECH is a major North American event for metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing. It brings equipment, automation, software, consumables, tooling, safety, and production solutions into a manufacturing environment.

FABTECH is a strong candidate when your product affects how metal parts are made, joined, finished, inspected, or moved. It is not a general industrial show for any product used somewhere in a factory.

Visitors need to evaluate application fit, cycle, material range, quality, changeover, labor, safety, maintenance, consumables, service, and integration. If a machine will run, the booth plan must include utilities, extraction, material flow, guarding, cleaning, and operator responsibility. The demonstration is an operating system, not a decorative object.

10. PACK EXPO Las Vegas

September 27–29, 2027 | Las Vegas Convention Center | Las Vegas, Nevada

Packaging machinery displayed on the PACK EXPO Las Vegas show floor.

PACK EXPO Las Vegas is a major packaging and processing event serving more than 40 vertical industries. The organizer plans approximately 2,300 exhibitors and 30,000-plus professionals, with full-scale machinery, materials, components, and software on the floor.

Packaging machinery, processing systems, materials, coding, inspection, automation, robotics, controls, digital transformation, and supply-chain solutions can reach customers from multiple end markets. The opportunity is cross-industry application; the danger is a message so broad that no plant recognizes its own problem.

Choose one or two representative applications and run them credibly. Show product infeed, format change, output, controls, inspection, sanitation or cleaning where relevant, and the line interfaces around the machine. The organizer currently includes qualifying drayage in the space rate, but that does not remove the need to plan every other utility and operating cost.

How to use this list

First, delete every event outside your industry and route to market. A show can be nationally famous and still be irrelevant to your product. Second, compare the people you need: retailer, distributor, engineer, specifier, integrator, plant operator, developer, or executive. Third, identify what must be proved in person. The strongest trade shows are often strong because visitors expect to compare working products, which raises the operational standard for the exhibit.

Then estimate the full commitment, not only the space. Include design, construction, freight, material handling, utilities, labor, travel, samples, demonstration staff, pre-show outreach, and follow-up. A smaller booth with a strong account and demonstration plan can outperform a larger presence purchased because the event is “major.”

Other major 2027 events to verify against your industry

Several other events may be more important than the ten above for a narrower market:

  • World of Asphalt, March 15–17 in New Orleans: for asphalt, aggregates, paving, traffic safety, and pavement maintenance.
  • SPIE Photonics West, January 30–February 4 in San Francisco: for optics, lasers, imaging, quantum, and photonics technologies.
  • NVIDIA GTC, March 14–18 in San Jose: for accelerated computing and applied AI ecosystems.
  • The Utility Expo, October 5–7 in Louisville: for electric, telecom, natural-gas, water, and wastewater utility infrastructure, with extensive outdoor demonstrations.
  • Equip Exposition, October 19–22 in Louisville: for landscape contractors, dealers, outdoor power equipment, and outdoor living.
  • SEMA Show: a major automotive aftermarket event, but its official 2027 date page was not used in this confirmed calendar. Verify the organizer's current 2027 schedule before budgeting.

This section is not a second ranking. It shows why a general “top 10” should never override the specialized event that owns your buyer community.

Frequently asked questions

Do organizer attendance figures represent unique buyers?

Not necessarily. A published figure may count registrations, verified attendees, visits, conference participants, exhibitors, or co-located audiences. Read the definition and year attached to the number, then ask for job roles, company types, geography, and category participation. A large total cannot be converted directly into a lead forecast.

What immigration status does an overseas booth team need?

Do not infer this from an organizer invitation letter or another exhibitor's experience. The permitted activities depend on current U.S. immigration rules and the work each person will perform. Confirm requirements through official U.S. government guidance and qualified advice where needed; also check organizer documentation deadlines. Booth labor rules are a separate issue from entry permission.

What should an exhibitor do if the full machine or system will not be ready?

Reduce the promise rather than stage a false live demonstration. Use a production-representative subsystem, inspected output, transparent recorded process, engineering sample, or scheduled remote connection, and label what is prototype, simulated, or not present. The technical staff should be able to explain what remains before commercial deployment.

How many people should staff a major booth?

Calculate from simultaneous tasks, not floor area alone: greeting and qualification, demonstrations, technical questions, scheduled meetings, lead capture, breaks, and any hospitality. Then test the busiest realistic period. Too few people leave qualified visitors waiting; too many unbriefed people create inconsistent answers and block the visitor path.

How should a company measure a qualified post-show outcome?

Measure progress by named accounts and agreed next steps: technical evaluation, sample, quote, distributor review, site visit, specification meeting, or procurement process. Record the owner and due date. Traffic, scans, and social impressions can describe activity, but they should not be reported as equivalent to sales opportunities.

Final judgment

A major trade show is valuable only inside the market where it is major. Use this list to find the correct industry anchor, then verify the buyer, eligibility, timing, and physical demonstration before treating scale as an advantage.

Once you have selected the event and the decision the booth must support, King Exhibits can help translate that plan into a buildable, operational U.S. exhibit.
