If you make pottery and want to add a North Dakota selling weekend, The Big One Art & Craft Fair gives you several dates to consider. Your choice starts with the season and whether your work qualifies, then comes down to an available space you can actually use.
A handmade market with customers shopping for themselves
The Big One is a series of four public art and craft fairs in North Dakota. The organizer’s history identifies Lisa and Stacy Frank as the owners. Pottery sits alongside other handmade goods, so your work fits the subject of the event. That does not guarantee acceptance. About The Big One

For your studio, the useful starting point is direct retail sales. Bring pieces people can inspect and take home; do not build your plan around meeting wholesale accounts. The organizer describes a consumer audience, not a qualified buying delegation. Official series website
A shopper deciding whether a mug feels comfortable needs something different from a retailer reviewing a wholesale range. Let people pick up a sample safely, see its price, and understand which pieces are available today. That gives the conversation a clear purpose: helping someone choose a piece they will use.
Dates and locations for the next editions
The following are the next advertised editions checked on September 7, 2026. All venues are in North Dakota; there is no single date for the whole series.

| Edition | Dates | Venue | What it means for your studio |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fargo Fall | October 23–24, 2026 | FARGODOME, Fargo | The official page currently says sold out, with new applications going to a cancellation waitlist. Do not treat it as a confirmed selling weekend. |
| Minot Christmas | November 6–7, 2026 | ND State Fair Center, Minot | An earlier November option if you want time afterward to make more stock. Confirm space in your category. |
| Bismarck Christmas | November 20–21, 2026 | Bismarck Event Center, Bismarck | Two weeks after Minot Christmas. Only combine them if your firing and packing schedule can support both. |
| Minot Spring | April 9–10, 2027 | ND State Fair Center, Minot | A later alternative if you need a fresh production cycle instead of a fall commitment. |

The Christmas dates give you a reason to test giftable pieces, but the event names do not prove demand for a particular price range. Use your own sales history when choosing quantities. An application link on the other event pages is also not evidence that your category has space.
Applying as a handmade vendor
The organizer excludes resale merchandise, imports/commercial merchandise and direct-sales merchandise. For a studio selling its own ceramics, that is a meaningful distinction: your application should show what you make, rather than simply present a polished retail brand. Organizer’s merchandise policy

For a first application, prepare the form, photographs showing your work is made by you, and the required payment information. Start with the application linked from your chosen edition’s page. The general FAQ still links some older forms. Application guidance
If your range mixes your own pottery with purchased accessories, ask the organizer about those accessories before including them. Approval of your ceramics should not be read as permission to sell everything in your shop.
Booth sizes and costs change between cities
Fargo’s 2026 application specifies 10-by-10-foot spaces, with one chair included. Floor aisle space is listed at $220 and wall background space at $240; tables and other options cost extra. Wall background does not mean you may attach a display to the building. Fargo application

Bismarck’s 2026 form lists floor aisle space at $180 and wall background space at $200. It also says a power outlet could be as far as 50 feet away. If you want lights to show glaze colors, resolve the power connection before choosing your fixture layout. Bismarck application
Minot Christmas includes Wi-Fi, with electricity access if requested, while the 2027 Spring form includes Wi-Fi and electricity access. Check the request field when completing the relevant form; do not assume an outlet will be beside your table. Minot Christmas application, Minot Spring application
For pottery, sketch the shelves and the wrapping area together. A display that holds more pieces but leaves you nowhere to pack a bowl can slow each sale. Keep a stable handling surface within your space. These are practical layout suggestions; ask the organizer before adding anything that needs special power or changes the approved display.
FAQ
Can my employees help make the products?
The 2027 Minot Spring application includes an acknowledgment covering items made by you, your family or your business employees. It is not limited to a one-person studio. Describe your production arrangement accurately and obtain a decision on any outsourced work before assuming it qualifies. Spring application
Is payment taken while I am on the cancellation waitlist?
The organizer’s FAQ says payment is not processed while you are on that list. Keep your production plans flexible until a place is confirmed; an application alone is not a booking. Waitlist guidance
Could a customer find me again after the show?
The organizer offers to help customers locate an exhibitor using details such as the show and the products sold. Make that easier by giving customers a card with your studio name and website. Keep the same name on your display and application. Organizer FAQ
Choose the date you can supply
Ask about availability for the edition that fits your production calendar, then submit photographs of the range you intend to sell. Once accepted, build the display around that approved range and your assigned space. A second date can wait until you know you can replenish the first.
